Hizee and her friends were crafting "unsupervised" the other day and they used our entire three year supply of sparkles in a one hour "session." It was too late to do much salvaging of sparkles by the time this photo was taken. See more posts by clicking on "older posts" below.

Bruce had his last water workshop in Zacongo at the end of March. He taught two classes every week. Here are three of his students (from top to bottom: Herminio, Hilario, and Elvira) getting their certificates for completing the course. Miguel and Zam recieved prizes for perfect attendance.

It was our friend Maribel's birthday a couple of weeks ago. We gave her one of Black Beauty's bunnies for her birthday.

Below: the kids are cleaning the street for Maribel's pinata.
Biting the cake, a Mexican birthday tradition.

There was a baby shower in Zacongo a couple of weeks ago for our neighbor Linda and it was the most action-packed, fun-filled baby shower that I've ever been too! Linda comes from a family of seven sisters and one brother and she and her sisters are always busy planning events and crafting. Their baby shower did not disappoint! It was non-stop games and prizes from the minute we entered the door until the minute we left!

We recently had an MCC team Mexico retreat in Tepoztlan (a little hippy/cultural haven just outside of Cuernavaca that we also visited during language study). We had a great time camping together near the town...although the retreat was much to short! Some of the highlights included eating at this little Italian pizza place where we got to sit on the floor while eating!, eating ice cream at these funky, colourful ice cream places, worshiping together, and of course, just being together all in one place.

We had a beautiful worship service together outside.

Two goofballs -- friends and fellow MCCers Meredith (works here in Olinala) and Ricardo (MCC country co-director who lives in Mexico City with his wife Marion and daughter Isabel).

The kids went nuts when our friend and fellow MCCer, Liz, pulled out her facepainting book! Liz painted the line-up faces meeting the demands for super heroes and butterflys! You rock Liz!!

The finished faces: Zam, Isaiah, Micah, Ziko, Hizee and Ayesha, Isabel and her dad Ricardo.

Most nights after English and computer classes are over we head down to "el campo de futbol" (the soccer pitch) to play soccer, other games, ride bike, run with the dogs etc. This particular night attracted a large crowd.

Hizee lost her first tooth!!! She had long ago predicted that she would loose her first tooth when she was five (just like her cousin Megan had) and her prediction became reality a few weeks after her fifth birthday. The story goes that she and her friends were building a house of lego and they needed a certain piece of lego that was attached to another piece. So Hizee tried to bite the piece off (forgetting momentarily about her very loose tooth) and out it came! Way to go Hizee! She now spends quite a bit of time in front of the mirror admiring her new, incoming "adult tooth."

Our good friends, Sharon and Peter, from Yellowknife sent us this amazing package complete with Stuart Mclean books! The kids were so thrilled (and so were their parents). You guys rock...thank you so much!!!

BINGO inside on a hot Saturday afternoon. It's been getting super hot here with temperatures in the 40s.

We were learning animals in English class a few weeks back and I needed some recordings of animal noises. Here are Hizee and our neighbor, Lalo, making a recording of a burro (donkey).

Hizee got a pigeon from her friend Maria for her birthday (we're a bit slow in posting this picture). She named her "Compass."

Hizee has been super into washing dishes lately. I'm quick to encourage her newfound love of this very vital "passtime". See more new posts by clicking on "older posts" (we really got behind with posting pictures).
