Working With Maize

The past two months or so have been all about "desgranar" (otherwise known as removing all of the dried kernals of maize from their cobs by hand) for the people of Zacango. With our little supply of maize cobs that we have drying on our roof from our harvest, it is a fun, leisurely process but for everyone else in Zacango (with their large harvests that feed them for nearly a year) it means weeks of hard labour.
