Year THREE in Zacango here we come...

It will be difficult to do justice to the events of the past week through words and pictures but I’m going to give it a try. Starting with last Saturday when Hizee got her dog Flores (Flo). This much awaited and anticipated day did not disappoint. As mentioned earlier, we scoured the animal shelters of Cuernavaca looking for a small breed puppy but didn’t have any luck. So last Saturday morning we set out in a taxi to look for a veterinarian that sold puppies (some of the vets here are more like pet stores). While we always swore that we would never buy a puppy from a pet store we were pretty desperate by this point – Hizee needed her puppy to accompany her to her new home. We saw Flo the first vet we walked into and Hizee was excited but was not set on her. She said that while she really liked the looks of Flo, she had a more “poodlish” dog in mind, not a Chihuahua. So we ventured out to another spot where we heard that puppies were available for sale. On the way to the other puppy spot Hizee said that if this place didn’t have “poodles” she would really like the Chihuahua. Well, the long and short of it is that the second place we ventured to was closed and we ended up quickly rushing back to get Flo. It was beautiful to watch the look of anticipation on Hizee’s face as the vet got her puppy ready (gave her shots, explained how to care for her etc.). On the way home in the taxi as Hizee held Flo against her cheek she said to me “I can’t believe this day has finally come, I’ve been waiting for this day for years, hey mom?” And for those of you who know Hizee, you know that animals are not a novelty for her, she is as much (and more) in love with Flo today as the day she got her!

Wow! Where to start commenting! You guys are finally in your home. I was thrilled to see Hizee with her puppy because I knew how long she has wanted one. And the pictures of the kids and your new home and the welcome by your community. All so exciting and emotional at the same time. Prayers and blessings to you as you make your house your home and begin your work.
